The Old Boys Association was founded in the year 1949 by the Principal Rev Msgr Patrick Aranjo. The OBA fund was opened by him with a contribution of Rs. 100/- and the first Constitution was drawn up with the help of Mr. D’Cruz a member of the staff. On its first OBA day celebrations, Fr. Pat as he was affectionately called explained the primary function of the OBA and said that the association was to be a forum to promote interaction amongst the Germainite family. He emphasised the pride of a sense of belonging to this family and said that as old boys we must try to reach and branch out far and wide. He asked the old boys to keep in touch with their school, with a sense of gratitude. It is with this humble beginning that the OBA has grown from strength to strength over the years, never forgetting or deviating from its motto, “REDDITURI PIETAS- Give Back with Gratitude”, and to keep old boys informed of each other thereby trying to grow helping each other.

OBA DAY AUGUST 1952
The growth of the Association was rather slow, as expected in its infant years. The activities of the OBA were restricted to an annual gathering each year, and the funds were provided by the School for such occasion. It was all along difficult to meet expenses for this single event, and this situation continued for many years. Even during the Silver Jubilee, in 1974 the event was only celebrated with an extended OBA Day culminating with Dinner. In spite of all these difficulties, the OBA Day each year was an event looked forward to by many a dedicated old boy who had the will and gratitude towards their Alma mater. Over the years the Constitution of the Association has been improved and revised. The Ruby (40 years) anniversary of the Association in 1989 was celebrated with some extra fun and games and was used as the launch pad to prepare for the Golden Jubilee year. The OBA saw a resurgence in the early 80’s under the then Principal Rev. Fr. Hilary Pereira. He and a small group of old boys went about enrolling new members and adding a sense of direction to the association. The monthly Managing Committee meetings became more meaningful, and events were planned meticulously. From this point, the Association grew from strength to strength and began to take an active part in the affairs of the School. Along with the PTA and School they organised and conducted many fund raising activities for the Golden Jubilee Hall etc.

An Audit was done for the accounts of the three previous years which was mooted by the Chairman and approved by the AGM in 2011. This was put in place by the then Treasurer- C N Abraham, the financial matters were streamlined, the Constitution was amended, the Permanent Standing Committee for Scholarships was put in place, and all pending Scholarships were paid out for the preceding three years. The Deposits were doubled in the bank. It was definitely a Trendsetting Year for the OBA.
